Canterbury - Obstacle Clinic & Challenge

CLINIC FEE: $220.  Please note: a $100 non-refundable deposit is required upon booking.

SPECTATOR FEE: $30 for one day or $50 for both.  No need to pre-book; you can simply turn up and register/pay on the day.

Type: Mixture of ridden and ground work. 

Description: A Horsemanship Clinic but with the addition of obstacles!  Using the obstacles is a fabulous way of putting principle to purpose and putting into practice your horsemanship skills.  The Obstacle Clinic will test you and your horse on your  ability to work as a team to navigate obstacles.  Introducing your horse to new experiences and working through difficult obstacles will build on his/her confidence which in turn will improve your relationship and better prepare you both for riding out in ‘the real world’ where you may encounter challenging obstacles/things.  The Obstacle Clinic also comprises an Obstacle Challenge which is a friendly and fun 'competition' where you will be asked to negotiate a series of obstacles within a maximum time limit with each obstacle worth a certain number of points. 

Obstacle Challenge:  The Obstacle Challenge isn’t really as daunting as it may sound we promise!! You get to spend time practicing the obstacles both on the ground and undersaddle and the Challenge itself is for fun and is only as competitive as you want it to be! Some will be super competitive while others will be happy to have a go at a select few obstacles they feel comfortable with; some may trot or canter around where as others will walk… it’s totally up to each individual! Everyone gets the same amount of time to attempt as many or few obstacles as they wish/you can pick and choose how many/which obstacles you do as part of the Challenge. It’s all about encouraging and supporting one another and having fun!!

Prizes:  There are ribbons for everyone who participates as well as prize money for 1st-4th place!

Suitable for:  All riders and all horses that are started undersaddle – no matter what age/stage in their education.
