CLINICS

OUTLINE

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Clinics are aimed at, and are suitable for, everyone regardless of their chosen equine discipline.  Rider numbers on Clinics are strictly limited to ensure that everyone gets plenty of one-on-one time with Scott.  This also helps create a positive and encouraging learning environment for everyone to learn and feel comfortable to ask for help and to ask questions.  Riders need to be able to comfortably walk and trot without assistance to participate Clinics.  If you are interested in having a Clinic in your area please contact us and we can endeavor to get one booked in.  A description of the different Clinic types are outlined below:

GROUND-OBSTACLE CLINIC

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Type: Groundwork only

Description: Same as the Groundwork Clinic but with the addition of obstacles!  Using the obstacles is perfect for young horses (i.e. weanlings, yearlings etc) as exposing them to new things and building confidence is so very important for them and will help set them up for their ridden future, as well as older horses that need the same exposure/confidence!  Working through the obstacles on the ground integrates variety and new challenges which horses (and owners!) enjoy!  It will improve your ground skills, which in turn will improve your relationship with your horse and build on your horse’s confidence – all the while having fun!

Suitable for:  Young horses (i.e. weanlings, yearlings etc) and older horses that need exposure to new things/lack confidence.

Duration:  1 day

Booking Limit:  10

OBSTACLE CLINIC & CHALLENGE

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Type: Mixture of ridden and groundwork

Description: Same as the Horsemanship Clinic but with the addition of obstacles!  Using the obstacles is a fabulous way of putting principle to purpose and putting into practice your horsemanship skills.  The Obstacle Clinic will test you and your horse on your  ability to work as a team to navigate obstacles.  Introducing your horse to new experiences and working through difficult obstacles will build on his/her confidence which in turn will improve your relationship and better prepare you both for riding out in ‘the real world’ where you may encounter challenging obstacles/things.  The Obstacle Clinic also comprises an Obstacle Challenge which is a friendly and fun 'competition' where you will be asked to negotiate a series of obstacles - there is a maximum time limit and each obstacle is worth a certain number of points.

Further Details:  If you would like further information please contact us and we can send through our 'Obstacle Challenge Info Pack' which includes more details/information i.e. rules, scoring, the obstacles themselves and an example Score Card.

Prizes:  There are ribbons for everyone who participates as well as prize money for 1st-4th place!

Suitable for:  All riders and all horses that are started undersaddle – no matter what age/stage in their education.

Duration:  2 days

Booking Limit:  12

COW WORKING CLINIC

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Type: Mixture of ridden and groundwork

Description: Same as the Horsemanship Clinic but with the addition of cattle!  Working cattle is fantastic way to test out and put into practice the horsemanship skills that Scott will teach you (and what you already know) – and a heap of fun!!!  The horsemanship side will prepare both us as riders and the horses to work the cattle by improving and working on our horsemanship skills - e.g. the 'go button', backing up, simple transitions, lengthening and shortening strides, turns on the haunches etc.  You do not need to have worked cattle before to participate in this Clinic – the Clinic also won’t directly involve any roping (although for those keen it is something that can be incorporated in) so you don’t need a western saddle to participate.

Suitable for:  All riders and all horses that are started undersaddle – no matter what age/stage in their education.

Duration:  2 days

Booking Limit:  12
