Van was bred by us and just kept growing - he is a giant!  He hasn’t had as much work as he should have due to Scott being busy riding his other horses and client horses over the past few years then shepherding.  Like his mother, a grey St James mare (Ghosty), he is a sensitive horse who is very aware of everything going on around him and has a high sense of self-preservation.  He has only had approximately 15 rides undersaddle but this Spring/Summer Scott is aiming to put any spare time he has into putting more rides on him and furthering his education.

November 2018: Scott has managed to have a few more rides on Van in between starting clients' horses and he is starting to let down a lot undersaddle now he is getting some more consistent work - something he has always lacked!  Scott will be riding him in as many of our upcoming Clinics as possible.

October 2019: Scott rode Van on a three-day Clinic with Nicole Weinauge which he thoroughly enjoyed!  Nicole is a wonderful, supportive teacher and extremely knowledgeable - her depth of understanding and generosity in sharing this was simply fantastic!  Scott was able to get a lot of questions answered and made real progress with Van.

January 2020: We took Van to his first ever dressage competition (which was also Scott's first competition).  We were so very proud of Van and how he coped with the whole day; he couldn't have gone any better and was even placed 1st (out of 13) in his second test with a score of 69.7%.  Scott is very much looking forward to getting Van out and about to more dressage competitions in the near future... watch this space!

August 2020: After a break due to Covid restrictions, we took Van to his second dressage competition at the end of August.  Scott entered Van in two classes; Test 0B and 1A (his first Level 1 test) and we were very pleased with how Van went - coming away with a 2nd in Test 0B and 3rd in Test 1A.

April 2021: Scott has been thoroughly enjoying having lessons with Bill Noble and Kirsty Schist - we are very fortunate to be able to get one-on-one help and guidance from people with so much knowledge and experience!  Scott and Van completed their second Level 2 test in April and came away with a second (Test 2B).

July 2021: From Van's first Level 0 test in January 2020 we entered him in his first Level 4 test at the end of July and couldn't be prouder of him.  He won his first test (Test 4A) and was second in his second test (Test 4C).  As always, lots of learning and things to work on but very happy with how he went and the progress he has made in such a short space of time.  A big thank you to both Bill Noble and Kirsty Schist who Scott has been having regular lessons with for all of their guidance, support and encouragement.
