GLENARAY JIM - 'JIM'
Dam: Glenaray Nicole (Stationbred)
Sire: Amazing Charm (Thoroughbred)
Jim was bred and raised on Glenaray Station in Southland. He has a bit of a chequered past and a history of bucking off all of the shepherds that rode him. After the shepherds decided he should never be ridden again the Station Manager offered Jim to Scott to ride. Scott took him on and he became his main horse for mustering on the Station; he is very surefooted and will go all day. He has learnt to be guarded and suspicious but is a softie at heart and wants to do the right thing. We brought him back to Canterbury with us and he will remain with us. Jim gets troubled when being saddled and has a lot of holes in his education. Scott has to manage him carefully but is looking forward to having him around home so he can continue to work with him, fill in some of those holes and continue to develop his confidence.
November 2018: We took Jim (and Envy) along to the CAHC All Breeds Show in Kirwee. The show was a far cry from the hills of Glenaray Station that Jim was bred on and has spent his entire life on!! He took the entire day in his stride (we don't think anyone could believe it was his very first show!) and did us proud! He even picked up two firsts and a second in the three inhand classes we entered him in.
