"I have been very fortunate to have secured a lovely colt from 2020 Erewhon Stations 'Annie' who we have named 'Moose'.  At 6 months he was then taken to Scott O'Malley and Michaela's where he received his first education in handling.  Initially I felt a little sad that I'd miss the first part of my darling Moose's journey.  We were dealing with two factors which made this impossible.  One was that I was living in Auckland and the second factor was that we were all dealing with unprecedented times having to socially distance ourselves due to Covid 19.  Otherwise I understand normally Scott and Michaela welcome their clients to be a part of the journey.  I soon found out that Michaela's level of communication was next level!  She made me a part of every detail and step of teh way with photos and videos, regular Facebook updates and emails.  Michaela shared moments of excitement and anticipation waiting for the stock truck to arrive with 6 Erewhon babies on board.  Photos of their halters all lined up ready and waiting, videos of our babies exiting the stock truck and every step in their handling process with Scott.  Through Michaela I got to see and experience it all!  I didn't need to be there.  Her daily updates filled me with excitement, reassured me Moose was in the best hands and also helped me to form a bond with my new weanling.  I felt like I had a friend in Michaela to share this journey with.  She made this experience very special, some lovely memories.  I found Scott to be very kind, patient and effective in handling these babies for the first time.  I was blown away by what Scott was able to achieve in such a short time!  He is very knowledgeable in numerous aspects of our equine friends.  He takes his work very passionately and has an honest commitment to the process in improving and setting these young horses up for the very best start in life.  I feel incredibly fortunate to have my weanling started by Scott.  He was diligent and patient with Moose.  Scott was able to quickly understand how a combination of history, personality, breeding, conditioning and conformation worked together to give Moose the right approach in handling and therefore unlocked the best results.  I had a 6 month old weanling make a huge trip from Canterbury to Auckland.  He arrived calm, confident and well adjusted with all the right tools in place for me to carry on the process in which Scott still continues to mentor me with.  Scott's communication is clear and straightforward.  I found Scott to be very personable and generous with his time.  I have enormous respect for team Scott and Michaela.  Thank you both for giving Moose the very best start in life."  K Anderson

"I would totally recommend Scott for weaning/handling your precious foal.  I have weaned and handled many foals over the years, however Scott seems to give them something else that I have not managed to.  I loved the constant contact with videos/photos of Ricco's progress from Michaela & Scott.  They went above and beyond my expectations with my boy, introducing him to scary objects and teaching him the meaning of life & patience. As life gets very busy for some of us, using a service like this is well worth while.  Thanks heaps Scott & Michaela for your aftercare and take home package.  Thanks from Ricco & I." C Dalton

"Just thought I would email you an update on how we are getting on with Piper.  Floating is all going good - she has been on several trips since we came to the Clinic and she loads, travels and unloads simply, alone and with company which has been fantastic... [she has had an operation] and is now on a months' box rest at home.  Thanks to your work with her, this is going really well.  She respects me and is easy to deal with in the box - something we wouldn't have probably survived prior to your work with her!!  So thank you for the work you did with her - it was definitely well worth sending her to you as being able to self load her and deal safely with her is invaluableL & B Clark

"Brilliant! My yearling filly spent just over a week at Scott and Michaela's getting all the basics reinforced. She is respectful, thoughtful and calm and has had the best start with Scott. She came home off the float from training with all my horses flying about with excitement and she didn’t bat an eye at them.  Super happy!!  Will be back."  J Jackson

I was very fortunate to secure a beautiful filly from Erewhon Station in the 2019 crop of foals.  I was even more fortunate to be introduced to Scott and Michaela for providing the first human contact and training for my precious filly.  From the moment I met this professional couple I knew the filly would be in great hands, they have excellent facilities but more importantly the approach to the training was focused around the emotional health and well-being of the unhandled filly and keeping me well informed and part of the process.  I have been extremely impressed by the excellent communication received throughout the week my filly was in their care – including daily progress reports and photos.  The level of professionalism from the O'Malley’s is unprecedented in my experience with other horse establishments.  My filly had to travel from Christchurch to Auckland on a horse transporter so it was important we all had confidence in her ability to cope with the journey at such a young age.  She was well prepared and was leading, being groomed, covered, loading and was calm and confident when she left Christchurch and headed for Auckland.  The journey went without a hitch and the young horse arrived at her new home in good health.  The transition into her new home has been seamless with no problems surfacing.  They provided videos for me to be able to continue the training that Scott had established which were invaluable in ensuring I was consistent in my approach and touch.   Scott has done a beautiful job with the young horse and I have not encountered any problems.  I now have a well-mannered young horse that is a joy to handle, I am very excited for our future together due to the calm wonderful start she has had from Scott O'Malley.  I have been very impressed by the excellent communication and follow up since the filly has arrived at my place.  I could not recommend the services of Scott and Michaela more highly." C Metz

"Scott handled my young Erewhon filly out of Quest, he did the most wonderful job with her before she made her big trip up to Auckland, I was kept well updated with emails and pictures and video the entire time, as I do not have experience with young horses I felt assured she was getting the best possible start with Scott, she is now happily loading on the float, leading and happy having her legs and feet handled, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Scott, I have a happy relaxed wee girl, thank you so much!" L Moloney

"I had my six month old Erewhon filly handled by Scott and couldn’t be happier, she’s had an easy transition to the big wide world with everything done at her pace and is lovely to deal with.  Scott has done an incredible job and her, I will definitely be coming back with horses in the future!  Thanks so much Scott and Michaela, you’ve made this experience very pleasant and are both wonderful people to deal with!" K Mackle
